Building your personal brand with intention is the first step to working on it for the long term and sustaining it.
Building with intention helps you:
-
Create a community that is aligned with your vision.
-
Build expertise in your niche
-
Be known for your expertise in that niche
-
Get thought-leadership speaking opportunities at events.
-
Mentor upcoming industry leaders and changemakers.
Follow the 3-step process to start building your personal brand with intention:
1) Know your current situation
-
Audit your social channels and understand what people think of you.
-
Explore different topics and figure out what interests you the most.
-
Observe yourself through others' eyes. Try to determine what they think of you when one subject comes up.
-
Create content/theme buckets for your preferred topics.
2) Understand what you want to be known for
-
Note down everything you've observed in the previous phase.
-
Take the top 3 buckets of interest and create content on those themes/topics.
-
Figure out your favourite format (text, video, etc.)
-
Add the 3 topics across all social channels in between conversations and discussions.
3) Build your authority in the niche
-
After 60 days of content creation, identify the top-performing topic/theme and double down on it.
-
Host X Spaces or LinkedIn Live to build authority with your community.
-
Share examples of your work with industry leaders or brands to increase credibility.
-
Interact and engage with other accounts within the same niche to broaden your profile visibility.
