"AI is a partner, not a replacement. It needs your perspective to stand out."

AI is everywhere right now. Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and others can churn out content in seconds.

But here’s the problem: most of it sounds the same.

If you want to stand out and build a personal brand, you can’t afford to let AI wash out your unique voice.

The good news?

AI can actually amplify your authenticity—if you use it the right way.

Here’s how:

Use AI as a brainstorm buddy, not your final draft machine

AI is excellent at generating raw ideas, outlines, or first drafts. But the magic happens when you add your human perspective.

Example: Ask AI to list 10 headline ideas for a LinkedIn post. Pick the one you like most and rewrite it using your unique tone. If AI gives you “5 Ways to Build Your Brand on LinkedIn,” turn it into “How to Stop Being a Ghost on LinkedIn and Actually Build a Brand.”

Why it matters: Raw AI text often lacks personality. Your edits give it an edge and are relatable.

Build a “voice bank” AI can learn from

The more you train AI, the closer it will mimic your style.

Example: Paste in 5–10 of your previous posts, emails, or blogs and ask AI: “Analyze my tone and rewrite this draft in the same style.” If you’re casual and witty, it will start adapting to that.

Why it matters: This makes AI a better co-creator, not a content factory producing bland text.

Layer in your lived experiences and stories

AI can generate words, but it doesn’t know your world. That’s your unfair advantage.

Example: AI might write: “Consistency is key to building a brand.” Instead, share your story: “When I started posting consistently on LinkedIn, I was invisible for 3 months. Then, one post hit 100K views and changed everything.”

Why it matters: Stories create connection. They show your audience the “real” you.

Edit with empathy and clarity

After using AI, read your draft aloud. Ask: “Does this sound like me? Does it feel human?”

Example: If AI gives you a stiff phrase like “leveraging synergies to maximize outcomes,” change it to something warmer: “working together to get real results.”

Why it matters: Great writing is clear and conversational. Your edits add warmth AI can’t replicate.

Add your unique perspectives and contrarian takes

AI will usually generate safe, mainstream ideas. Your job is to challenge assumptions.

Example: If AI says, “Post on social media every day to grow your brand,” you might add, “Actually, posting every day can lead to burnout. What works better is 3 solid posts a week.”

Why it matters: This positions you as a thought leader, not just someone parroting popular opinions.

Use AI for structure, not soul

AI is fantastic for organizing your thoughts into frameworks or step-by-step guides. But you need to inject the “why” behind the steps.

Example: Ask AI to outline “The 5 stages of building a personal brand.” Then add your insights for each stage, like how you personally navigated them.

Why it matters: Frameworks give clarity, but your reasoning builds trust.

Humanize your call-to-action

AI tends to end posts with robotic CTAs like “Share your thoughts in the comments below.” Make it warm and real.

Example: Instead of the AI-generated line, write: “Have you tried using AI for your content? Reply—I’d love to hear what’s working for you.”

Why it matters: People respond to authentic invitations, not commands.

AI is a powerful tool, but it can’t replace you.

Use it to save time on the what (ideas, drafts, structure), but always own the how (tone, stories, perspective). That’s how you keep your brand voice consistent and human.

Question for you:
👉  Have you tried using AI to write your posts or emails? What worked and what didn’t? Reply and let me know, I’d love to share some real-life examples in the next edition.
